All load bearing members are keyed to their mating part and bolted connections are used wherever practicable to reduce any reliance on load bearing welded connections. High yield steels are used to minimise the self weight of the lifting attachment and maximise the crane capacity available. Any ancillary chains, hooks or slings that are used in conjunction with any of the underhook attachments supplied by Lloyds Somers are obtained from quality suppliers such as Kuplex, Parsons, Marling Leek, Gunnebo and Crosby.

Motorised Slewing Hooks are available up to 100 Tonnes Safe Working Load and are either electrically or hydraulically powered to suit the customers preference. They can also be designed to incorporate load cells into the sheave pins for weight indication. The load display can be incorporated into the body of the slewing hook or alternatively relayed using radio telemetry to any remote position with 100 meters of the hook.

Somers strength is focussed on design within the heavy engineering sector, all equipment is designed to BS2573 parts 1 & 2 to a duty rating of M8/A7.
